JINNAH TOWER CONTROVERSY - demand to rename????
Recently on the occasion of Republic day an outrage has been seen by the members of Hindu Vahini. They tried to unfurl the Indian flag at the Jinnah Tower.
It is named after the father of Pakistan, Muhammad Ali Jinnah, located on Mahatma Gandhi Road of the city Gantur as a symbol of peace and harmony. Jinnah Tower is a landmark monument in the city of Gantur in Andhra Pradesh.
Members of Hindu Vahini are detained as they allegedly tried to unfurl the Indian flag at the tower on the occasion of Republic Day. Earlier the Andhra Pradesh Bhartiya Janta Party had demanded to rename the Jinnah Tower in Gantur. BJP national secretary Y Satya Kumar, Telangana BJP MLA Raja Singh and Andhra Pradesh BJP state unit chief, Somu Veeraraju, too, had demanded renaming the Jinnah tower with APJ Abdul Kalam's name.
